Hospice Care

As life’s journey winds down, take comfort in the fact that you and your family have options. You can make the decisions. You can keep control.
Hospice care is the life-affirming choice for anyone with a terminal diagnosis of six months or less. It’s care centered on dignity and a higher quality of life.
At Ohioans Home Health & Hospice, we’re ready to walk through this decision with you, providing comfort and support every step of the way.
Who Is Hospice For?
Hospice care isn’t a response to only one medical condition, and it’s not just for the last few days of life. In fact, beginning hospice care early provides more time to live with its many benefits. Hospice is appropriate once the focus has shifted from treatment to comfort.
What Does Hospice Care Look Like?
It’s up to you. We can provide care in your home, at an assisted living community or in a nursing facility.
Our team of nurses, physicians, social workers, aides, chaplains and volunteers will come to you. They’ll work together to manage your pain, while providing compassionate emotional and spiritual support.
Depending on your stability and needs, your hospice team members may visit daily, weekly or monthly. Help is available after hours, too; a clinician will answer the phone around the clock and can even visit you if needed.

Support for the Entire Family
Hospice care is for all of your loved ones, not just you. This is a challenging part of life, so we’ll be here to carry some of the weight.
We’ll help your family understand what to expect, guide them in caring for you between visits and provide grief support. Our goal is to help you and your family find peace and comfort when it matters most.
Paying for Hospice
We understand the financial aspects of hospice care might seem overwhelming, especially during such a difficult time. But there’s good news: most families will not pay out of pocket for hospice care.
Medicare: If you have Medicare Part A, hospice is fully covered. That includes nursing visits, medications for pain and symptom relief, necessary equipment and emotional and spiritual support.
Medicaid: In Ohio and most other states, Medicaid covers hospice care, providing benefits comparable to Medicare.
Medicare Advantage: With a Medicare Advantage plan, hospice care still falls under traditional Medicare Part A once the hospice benefit is elected. Your Medicare Advantage plan continues to cover care not related to hospice.
Private Insurance: Though coverage levels may differ from Medicare, many private insurance plans offer a hospice benefit.
Regardless of your coverage, we’ll help you navigate your benefits and make sure you receive the care you deserve.
